Governing is hard and this graph is probably one of the most disappointing things I have seen in some time.
That public at large does not know the difference between debt or deficit. They certainly do not understand that the debt limit refers to money we have already spent (or agreed to spend), in the budget. That money is spent. It does not affect future spending. It sounds responsible to say we shouldn't raise the limit. But I ask this question. If we do not raise the debt limit, and the economy implodes, will all those who said it would not stand up and take responsibility for their actions?

What this tells me is that the general public is as bad as Washington, voting along political lines. The president's speech followed by the Speaker of the House rebuttal is all you need to hear to know the Republican's are in pure hunt for the 2012 presidency at any and all costs. If they don't raise the debt ceiling, they will blame the president; if they raise the debt ceiling they will blame the president that they had to. It's all just sad really. They're all a bunch of self-centered brats out for themselves and personal glory. Just my two cents.
There is no situation that Republicans will not try to blame the president. Republican caucus has settled on a strategy of consistent and complete opposition.
